Dorica Dan participated on 28th April 2012, at Rin Grand Hotel Bucharest, Paris room, starting from 09:00 hr, to the second National Conference of News in Pediatric Oncology – Multidisciplinary Assistance to Children with Cancer, event organized by the PAVEL Association and Sanatatea Press Group, in partnership with the Romanian Society of Pediatric Onco-Hematology.
This manifest addressed the situation of children with cancer and their families, from different points of view, in trying to offer concrete solutions in order to improve their conditions. So, reputed children oncologists from Romania and abroad, joined by the authorities and representatives of patient associations, exposed and analyzed the problems of Romanian children oncology from the patient’s perspective, forming viable conclusions and proposals.
There have been discussed, among other topics, the objectives of the national strategy in pediatric oncology, the implementation of the European standards in pediatric oncology, the quality of the communication between patients, caregivers and doctors, and also the recent progress in treating the children with leukemia. All in all, the problems of the pediatric oncology in Romania and the adequate solutions to the present situation were discussed.
The patient’s associations present at the event have shared their ongoing projects, future intervention plans and the measures they wish to implement in favor of their beneficiaries, children with cancer and their families. Also, the event facilitated the experience exchange between psychologists, social workers, educators and other specialists involved in social services for children with cancer.
Romanian Association for Rare Cancers in partnership with Prader Willi Association through NoRo Center, have presented their offer to organize groups of children with cancer (all children cancers are considered rare cancers ) and instructing activities for specialists.
